The Arts Council is pleased to launch of our new Digital Arts Policy, aimed at fostering creativity, supporting innovation, and ensuring a vibrant and inclusive digital arts landscape. The goal of the Digital Arts Policy is to provide the Arts Council and the arts sector with the knowledge, skills and funding to support and sustain evolving digital artistic activity in Ireland. Implementation of the policy will lead to expanded opportunities for artists and audiences to engage with digital art across Ireland.

In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, the arts have found new and exciting avenues for expression and engagement. Our Digital Arts Policy will serve as a commitment to the artists, the creators, and the public who design, generate, employ and benefit from digital. It also seeks to address key issues within this dynamic and diverse field. The Arts Council’s vision is a future where digital artistic activity flourishes, allowing more people to enjoy high-quality digital arts both nationally and internationally.

Maureen Kennelly, Director of the Arts Council, said: “Our Digital Arts Policy reflects our commitment to supporting and nurturing the dynamic world of digital arts. We know that the digital medium offers boundless opportunities for creativity and cultural expression. This policy marks a significant step towards making digital arts more inclusive, innovative, and accessible to everyone. We’re excited to embark on this journey and invite all stakeholders to join us in shaping the future of digital arts.”

Prof. Kevin Rafter, Chair of the Arts Council, said: “The Arts Council’s new Digital Arts policy represents a comprehensive approach to the evolving landscape of digital arts where technology and creativity intersect. The policy will facilitate innovation, encourage cross-disciplinary collaborations, and ensure that the digital arts are a vehicle for cultural preservation and expression.”

The Arts Council fundamentally believes that the Digital Arts Policy will help shape the future of digital arts, ensuring a thriving and innovative ecosystem. This policy will be implemented through grants, partnerships, and advocacy efforts in collaboration with key stakeholders in the digital arts community.
