AMERICANS FOR THE ARTS NAMES CARI ROMEU MOZUR TO NEW POSITION OF SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF RELATIONSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Nolen Bivens, President and CEO of Americans for the Arts, announces the appointment of Cari Romeu Mozur to the newly created staff position of Senior Vice President of Relationship Development, effective today. In this new role, Romeu Mozur will oversee both strategic planning and the operational implementation of Americans for the Arts’ philanthropic mission, leading its membership and fundraising, as well as its earned revenue, with a focus on creating innovative and diverse models of support for the organization and its members.
“It brings me great pleasure to welcome Cari Romeu Mozur to our team,” said Nolen Bivens, President and CEO of Americans for the Arts. “As our first-ever Senior Vice President of Relationship Development, Cari will hold a pivotal role that brings together many of our internal leaders in such a way that will invite collaboration and partnership in support of our members and local arts agencies. I am confident that her unique perspectives and experience in a variety of arts settings will help her foster a diverse and innovative approach to philanthropic support, as well as building our memberships, to advance our important mission.”
For nearly two decades, Romeu Mozur has devoted her career to fundraising and advocating for the arts, recognizing the pivotal role they play in enriching lives and communities. She began her professional journey at Florida Grand Opera in Miami, Florida before making her way to Washington, DC, where she spent five years building relationships at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. For the past eight years, she has held positions of increasing responsibility at the Folger Shakespeare Library where she played a central role in expanding the Folger’s philanthropic resources and served as a frontline fundraiser for the organization during its successful $50 million capital campaign.
“Experiencing and creating art is vital to our shared humanity and living in the world together, it deepens connections and opens dialogues that strengthen communities. I’m delighted to be joining Americans for the Arts and working to centralize the arts in American lives and create access for every person across the country,” added Romeu Mozur.
Born to Cuban and Salvadorean parents in Miami, Romeu Mozur credits her mother for instilling a love of the arts from an early age through visits to museums, libraries, and cultural centers around the city. A childhood spent exploring the multicultural arts landscape through local arts organizations and multidisciplinary community expressions, inspired her to choose a career impacting and ensuring equitable access to the arts.
