New Arts Council partnership with Pavee Point Traveller and Roma Centre | The Arts Council

The Arts Council is pleased to announce a new partnership with Pavee Point Traveller and Roma Centre.

Members of the Traveller community make a significant and distinct contribution to arts and culture in Ireland. However, Travellers and other marginalised communities also continue to experience multiple barriers to engagement and participation in the arts.

The Arts Council values the opportunity to work in partnership with Pavee Point and other Traveller organisations through this new initiative, in order to increase Traveller inclusion, visibility and participation in the arts in Ireland, and to support and promote the cultural contribution of Travellers and Traveller organisations in Irish society.

As part of this partnership, a new national role of Arts and Culture Coordinator, based at Pavee Point, has also been developed. This role will be key to the delivery of the Partnership’s programme of work over an initial 3 year period, and offers an exciting opportunity for someone with the relevant skills and experience, to work with Pavee Point to build on the extensive work of Traveller organisations in the area of arts and culture, and to shape and support future developments in this field. The closing date for applications is 12 noon, Thursday 18 August 2022. For more information, please see the full job description and how to apply.

Development of this partnership builds on previous work and research that the Arts Council has undertaken, and is directly informed by Arts Council strategy Making Great Art Work 2016 – 2025, Arts Council Equality Human Rights and Diversity Policy and Strategy, and Irish government policy Culture 2025.
